In a recent podcast launched with her brother, former First Lady Michelle Obama shared insights into her personal life, as reported by The New York Times.
The podcast, named IMO, debuted on Wednesday, and its trailer provided glimpses into Michelle’s marriage amid swirling rumors regarding her divorce from former President Barack Obama. “I couldn’t have navigated eight years in the White House without my big brother,” Michelle remarked, reflecting on her tenure as First Lady from 2009 to 2017.
“… being married to the president of the United States is something none of us anticipated. We recognized Barack’s intelligence and ambition, but, you know…,” she continued. She noted that on their podcast, she and Craig, who is the executive director of the National Association of Basketball Coaches, would respond to audience questions about “the challenges you face in life… whether it’s managing the complexities of marriage and parenting, dealing with friendship issues, or even learning how to engage in the dating scene.”
Michelle Obama confessed her longstanding aversion to politics, revealing that it was her brother, Craig Robinson, who encouraged her to support her husband’s presidential campaign. The hosts will also discuss Robinson’s divorce from his first wife and his current marriage to Kelly McCrum Robinson. Additionally, they will tackle the ongoing speculation regarding the Obamas’ alleged separation, a topic that has garnered significant media attention in recent months.
The rumors of their split escalated to the point where some outlets suggested that Barack Obama was romantically involved with Friends actress Jennifer Aniston. However, Aniston refuted these claims during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, stating that she has only met the former president once. “It’s the first time in my life that all my decisions are made for my own benefit.” Michelle Obama also addressed the societal role of women, noting that when they allow themselves to prioritize their own needs, they often encounter challenges and difficulties.
“That’s a common struggle for us as women… we often worry about disappointing others. This year, people were so surprised by my decision to focus on myself that they speculated my husband and I were getting a divorce.”
These rumors arose following Michelle’s absence from both Jimmy Carter’s funeral and Donald Trump’s inauguration.
